Julia Frazier, M.S., G.I.T.



Julia Frazier has her M.S. degree in Earth Science and Geologist-In-Training certification in California. She has 3 years experience as an engineering geologist and joined Michael W. West & Associates, Inc. in 2007. She has worked for environmental and engineering firms in Staff and Project Management roles and for the Colorado Geological Survey as a Physical Science Researcher. She is academically and professionaly trained in engineering geology, environmental site assessment, surficial and down-hole geologic mapping, geologic hazard assessment, sedimentology, geomorphology, paleontology, paleopedology, project management, and technical report writing. As an Assistant Project Manager for SWCA Environmental Consultants she performed geology and paleontology research and surveys, monitored for, salvaged, identified, and prepared fossil resources, and managed field-monitor scheduling and budgets. As an Associate Engineerinig Geologist for Pacific Soils Engineering, Inc. in southern California, Ms. Frazier specialized in fault investigations, geotechnical evaluations, and grading reports. In her current position at Michael W. West & Associates, Inc., she concentrates on engineering geological, geotechnical, slope stability, and seismological studies for dams, mines and various land development projects. She analyzes site specific and regional geology, structure, seismicity, geologic hazards, and groundwater for projects in North and South America and Africa, and performs site inspections pertaining to expert witness role in litigation cases.

Ms. Frazier is active in the Colorado Association of Geotechnical Engineers and the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists, serving as Secretary for the Rocky Mountain Section from 2007-2008. She also volunteers her time as a Guide at Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison, Colorado.
