Dr. Janine Weber has 20 years of experience in geological research and environmental and engineering geology. In the early 1980's he worked as a petroleum exploration geologist and later as an engineering geologist in California before returning to school to pursue a PhD. At UC Berkeley, she conducted geological research in structural geology, active tectonics, seismic stratigraphy and geomorphology and participated with research groups at the US Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California. After graduating, Dr. Weber taught at California State University East Bay (Hayward) - Stratigraphy and Sedimentology, Earth and Life Through Time, and Intro to Earth Science. Since then she has practiced engineering geology throughout California and Colorado. She is a Registered Professional Geologist and a Certified Engineering Geologist in California.
Dr. Weber’s areas of expertise include the study of active faulting, evaluation of slope stability, regional geologic mapping, hazard mapping and evaluation, forensic geology, and environmental geology. One of her areas of expertise is understanding complex geological settings to determine the actual, valid risks; e.g., ancient landslides cut by faults, active faults obscured by landslides, or determining whether certain fault-like features are actually faults - or some other type of surficial feature.
Dr. Weber is an active member of the Association of Engineering and Environmental Geologists and of the Geological Society of America. She has published several technical articles, presented talks at national meetings, and continues to participate in geological research projects. Out of the office, she is an avid cyclist and downhill skier.
